Volunteers will gather from 9 a.m. to noon for a township-wide effort to keep local public spaces clean and welcoming. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. at the plaza in front of the Long Hill Library. Participants will receive free gloves and T-shirts, making it easy for individuals, families, friends and neighbors to join in for all or part of the morning.
Community cleanups accomplish the practical work of removing litter, but they also offer a visible reminder that a town’s parks, sidewalks, roadsides and gathering spaces belong to everyone. A few hours of shared effort can make a noticeable difference, and working alongside neighbors turns a simple chore into a community event.
This year’s cleanup also includes a digital element. Participants are invited to download the Litterati app to their phones for a chance to win prizes. The app can help turn individual pieces of litter into a broader record of what volunteers collect, connecting the morning’s work to a larger conversation about waste reduction and environmental stewardship.
The event follows a tradition of local volunteer cleanup days that bring residents together around a straightforward goal: a cleaner, more beautiful Long Hill. It is an especially accessible way for children and adults to contribute, learn about caring for their surroundings and see the immediate results of their time.
Residents who plan to participate should sign up by emailing adminassistant@longhillnj.gov. With gloves provided and one central check-in point, the event offers a simple way to spend a Saturday morning making a small action add up to a meaningful community impact.
